Mallorca

After touring Barcelona and stuffing our faces with endless tapas, we flew over to the island of Mallorca.  If you're familiar with this Spanish island, no we did not stay in Magaluf and party like spring breakers.  Instead we stayed on the other side of the island in the village of Cala San Vincenç, along with all the grannies and babies.  It was awesome.  We spent our time exploring the island via coastal car rides and catamaran cruises, relaxing by the beach, and soaking up the culture of this gorgeous place.

Our hotel, Hoposa Niu, was nestled in the most picturesque spot ever - a private cove overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Tramuntana mountains.

Pollença
A short drive from our hotel was the old town of Pollença.  We love an old town and this one did not disappoint.
The main square
Inside the church of the main square
Can Teresa Bar-Restaurant - our favorite place.  We bought a couple bottles from their wine store as well.  The owner is an incredible guy; a local who is warm, friendly, and knowledgable.  Definitely recommend it!
Going for a stroll

A famous staircase with 365 steps.  All that hard work and your reward is a small chapel at the top called Calvary. We didn't climb it.

The Boardwalk
The Pollença boardwalk was also a short drive from the hotel.  A great spot for some drinks and sun.

We're on a island.

Coastal Drive
A great way to see the island was by taking a coastal drive.  Good thing being a Trini Kevin is used to driving on extremely narrow mountain roads.  It got a bit hairy at times, but the views were well worth the blind corners.
Our destination - the lighthouse at the end of these cliffs.  It's called the lighthouse of Cap de Formentor, was built in 1892, and is located on the northernmost point of Mallorca 400 meters above sea level.

Another way we discovered the gems of Mallorca...

Marc & Cheyvonne, unfortunately, had to leave a day before us to start their trek back to Trinidad and missed out on a gorgeous day of exploration.  For our last day in Mallorca Kevin and I went for another coastal drive to check out the villages of ValldemossaDeià, & Puerto de Soller.
Valldemossa

The Real Cartuja
The monastery in Valldemossa where pianist Frederick Chopin and his lover, French writer George Sand, lived during the winter of 1838-1839. It was originally the palace of King Sanxo, and then became a Carthusian monastery from 1399 until 1835.  The Real Cartuja is now a museum.

Outside the monastery - a bust of Chopin

The museum offered a short concert of Chopin's music.

We had a fabulous time with Marc & Cheyvonne, and couldn't have asked for a more perfect Spanish holiday.  Can't wait for our next adventure with these two!
