Ski World Cup

Back in March, we spent a weekend in Lenzerheide, Switzerland to cheer on team USA as they crushed the competition at the 48th FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.  I had never attended a ski competition before, so the World Cup was a fantastic introduction to professional skiing.  We watched Americans Mikaela Shiffrin and Ted Ligety place first in the Ladies' Slalom and the Men's Giant Slalom.  It was awesome.  We totally played the part of the obnoxious Americans, patriotically waving our gigantic flag and belting out The Star-Spangled Banner at the top of our lungs (Or at least we tried to.  We could really only remember one verse, but let me tell yuh, we sang that one verse loud and proud).  As it generally goes with big wins, we celebrated big.  Big as in 12+ hours of victory drinking.  Oh boy it was rough the next morning.  That was NOT a fun train ride home the next day, but totally worth it. From the "hike" up to the ski bar (as the elderly Swiss easily passed us laughing), to the crazy tent dance party (so many bruises), to the memorable dinner (it must be a thing where Jens like to defend their friends whilst drunk), to late night shenanigans at the local bar (apparently I am the worst Hammerschlagen player known to man; no surprise there), to wrapping up the night with homemade rösti (Stacie is the hostess with the mostess) -- Ski World Cup 2014 is a weekend not soon to be forgotten.  Thanks Stacie, HP, and Jenn for the fun memories!!
