Near the end of June we went on a fabulous Spanish vacation with our great friends Marc and Cheyvonne. They live in Trinidad, and we all usually go on an annual boating trip through the Grenadines, but we sadly couldn't make it this year being in Zurich and all. However, I think we more than made up for it by going on a week long getaway to Barcelona and Mallorca.
Barcelona was our meeting point...

Rose Hustler
La Rambla is jam-packed with hustlers selling everything and anything a tourist could desire. While at dinner Marc and Cheyvonne learned of Kevin's deep and special hatred for the big city hustlers of Europe. Kevin cannot stand how they force their product physically into your hands and then harass you into buying it. Even when you try to hand the product back they will not take it and only say "5 Euro, 5 Euro, I give you good price". I agree their sales tactics are annoying. However, Marc being the sweet boyfriend that he is wanted to buy his lady love a rose and did not heed Kevin's warning and instead bought Kevin a rose as well.... |

He did not appreciate the gesture |
After numerous cocktails and bottles of wine we made our way home from La Rambla. The next day we nursed hangovers in Park Güell, but quickly perked up once we hit Barceloneta Beach and its topless inhabitants. After beers and sangrias at a beach bar, we stumbled upon a wine festival along the Port of Barcelona, thus ending a solid day of sightseeing.

We found a nice bench in the park and listened to a man play love songs on his Spanish guitar. It was quite romantic. |

Barceloneta Beach & the Port
For our last day in Barcelona we took an open-top bus tour of the city. Check out the highlights below...

Our favorite spot. Thanks Peter & Heather for the recommendation! |
Barcelona was a great start to the trip. Next up was Mallorca.
To be continued...
Looks like fun. Enjoy Mallorca.
